The choice of different lakes is great and we always catch plenty of fish. Vero is a great cook and out of the different outfitters I've been to, she offers the best food. I'm always amazed at how easy it is to go fishing at Mary Lake. Just hop in a boat and go! There's particularly good walleye fishing just a few minutes away from the dock. I must say that staying at the main lodge is an experience every year and I intend to keep coming back. Sometime during the year of 1998, I met a fellow from Pennsylvania who was an outdoorsman. We were talking about fishing in Canada and he asked me if I had ever been to Mary Lake Outfitters Lodge. I replied that I had been going to Ontario and Quebec about every other year since the late 1960's. I had stayed at five other lodges, but never at Mary Lake. He said that he was a part time guide at Mary Lake and that "If you go to Mary Lake for a week of fishing, you will not look for any other lodge to go to." On his challenge, I arranged my first trip there for twelve fishermen in 1999. I have been back to Mary Lake almost every year since, always with eleven other friends and fishermen to accompany me. Some of these fisherman have come from other parts of the US to join me including the states of Florida, New Jersey, Delaware, and Ohio.
Over these years some of the fishermen who had met the owners, Veronica and Ivon Brossard, have returned many times with me to fish, and have arranged on their own to be at Mary Lake for the spring bear hunt and the fall moose hunt. Here in my home town, we have a picnic each year with our wives and/or girlfriends invited, to share stories and photos about the splendid times that we have had at Mary Lake Lodge. I have again contracted for twelve fishermen to be at Mary Lake this summer for a week of fishing. As usual we will rent two 15 passenger vans for the trip. I am anxiously looking forward to the nice weather, great fishing, wonderful meals, clean air, caring and personable hosts, and old and new fishing buddies.

2008 was my first experience with moose hunting. I had not planned to
purchase a trip, but during my visit to the Harrisburg Sportsman Show I met
Veronnica and Yvon, the owners of Mary Lake Outfitters. Their price was
reasonable and they seemed like honest people, so I decided on a trip.
Being my first moose hunting adventure, I decided to purchase the full
package-lodging, meals, and guide.
Mary Lake is in the middle of vast forests and lakes. The scenery was
outstanding. I was able to sit all day without hearing one man made sound.
Yvon was my guide and he was serious about the hunt. He wants his clients
to be successful and does his best to make it happen. During the six day
hunt I saw nine moose while hunting and several others as we travelled the
logging roads. At one point I had a moose standing twenty-five feet from
me. The size of a moose is enough to amaze even an experienced hunter. On
the sixth day of my hunt I was rewarded with my first moose kill. I have to
tell you that the meat is some of the best I have ever tasted.
2009 will find me returning to Mary Lake Outfitters. My wife and I own a
house in Quebec so I plan to do some fishing and scouting this summer. I'm
taking my brothers with me this fall for the hunt. Hopefully the entire
family will be enjoying moose meat next winter.
